Virginia State Championships
I am proud to announce that 6 teams have made it to the state tournament on February 19th and 20th. All of the teams did a wonderful job this year and each has improved from event to event. That is one of my main goals in robotics. The teams that qualified are 14C, 14E, 14G, 14P, 14X and 14Z. Members on those teams should stop by my room to pick up permission slips and information this week.

If you have any questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org
You may opt to stay overnight Friday, it is up to parents as is transportation. Absences on the 19 th will be excused but students are responsible for making up the work missed.
Skills Challenge is on for VRC and IQ!
Saturday's skill event at Marsteller is on. Please arrive at 8:00. If you have items for concessions please bring!
Thanks and sorry about the short notice. Trying to get all of the pieces in place to make this happen has been a challenge.
Marsteller's Skills Competition 1/23
There is a strong possibility of a winter event this weekend that could cause the cancelation of the skill event this coming Saturday. I will make a definitive decision tomorrow so keep posted. The event will be moved to 1/30 the following Saturday.
Volunteers Still Needed for Woodbridge
I have two confirmed volunteers for Woodbridge High School. We need to have 8 so that we can afford to go, we may need to cancel one of our tournaments due to funds if we have to pay the $75 per team cost. A volunteer brings our cost down to $25 but we need 8 for each. We have Patriot covered but Woodbridge and Mount Vernon are lacking volunteers from Marsteller.
Thanks for your support!!
Robotics Club Shirts
Students should have brought home an order form for robotics shirts. The price is $15.00 and orders are due by November 10. Here is a picture of the front and sponsors are listed on the back.
In order to cut costs for competition we will need to provide 8 volunteers for each of our 3 competitions. It will bring down the registration fee from $75 to $25. With nearly 60 kids and over 100 parents we should be able to get 24 spots filled. Information will be coming home today, please contact me and not sign up so that I can be sure to get 8 for each competition.
The competitions are:
Dec 5 Woodbridge High School
Jan 9 Patriot High School
Feb 6 Mount Vernon High School
Let Robotics Begin
The robotics club has started meeting and we are 8 teams strong. We meet each Tuesday and Wednesday. I know we will not meet Oct 20 due to being bumped by music for our space.
The first Saturday competition will be in December but I am unable to solidify until the event opens for registration. It will take place at Woodbridge High School.

Marsteller Robotics Summer Camp
The Robotics Club will be meeting over the summer!
This year we are going to get an early start in order to get robots ready for competition in December. The club will meet the week of August 17th -21nd from 8:30 until 12:30. The large blocks of time will enable us to accomplish more than we can during the school year. A field will be set up and stay up along with a computer lab so that I can have some programming classes. Students that attend the weeklong camp will form teams and start the build for this year game. It would be helpful if students do some research over the summer so that they are bringing ideas for this year’s build. The cost of the week is $100.00 with all profits going to the robotics club to purchase new equipment and to register for competitions.
The camp is only open to students that will be in 7th or 8th grade during the 2015-2016 school year. Students in 6th grade will again be doing Vex IQ this year.
I encourage all 7th and 8th grade students wanting to do robotics next year to attend.
Please fill out the form below and return by June 12.

14G Goes to the World Championships
Congratulations to team 14G. They competed in the Vex World Championships this year. They finished with a record of 4-6 against the best robots in the world. Good luck next year!
